SHIEKH NOAMAN SCHOOL

In collaboration with Sibdo Engineering Consultancy, this project aimed to build a self-sustaining school in rural Sudan.

The design features a large overhanging roof with cutouts, supported by a U-shaped wall made from locally sourced mud concrete. This structure facilitates natural cooling by allowing hot air to escape from the top while retaining cool air at the bottom. The exterior, constructed from mud, wood, and aluminum, absorbs heat and provides ample daylight.

To optimize energy efficiency and reduce operational costs, the design includes exterior lighting to enhance nocturnal visibility for the surrounding community, eliminating the need for interior lighting during non-operational hours.
